Mike Glavin, a 1978 graduate of SJU, is in his 21st year as head men's cross country and track coach. The 1992, 1998 and 2000 Atlantic 10 Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year, Glavin has led the men to three A-10 Championship titles. Under his watchful eye, the Hawks have produced 30 All-Conference harriers and two NCAA qualifiers. Glavin returned to his alma mater after a highly successful 10-year stint as track and cross country coach at Paul VI High School in Haddonfield, N.J. During his tenure there, he led the cross country team to a phenomenal 110-0 record, including three state championships in 1984, 1985 and 1988. His track record was an equally impressive 60-18, which included four South Jersey championships and the 1989 state crown. Glavin will be inducted into the Paul VI Alumni Hall of Fame in October, 2009. A stellar performer for the Hawks as an undergrad, Glavin established numerous records, including the outdoor track record for the three-mile, the 5,000-meter runs, and the indoor record for the mile and two-mile. He also held the Belmont Plateau cross country record with a time of 25:36. Glavin qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in both his junior and senior years.
