2002 MVP CRAYCRAFT TO TRANSFER TO NORTH CAROLINA

PHILADELPHIA, PA (06/26/02) - Junior-to-be Andy Craycraft, the 2002 team MVP and indoor/outdoor all-Atlantic 10 performer has received his release and will transfer to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Craycraft earned Saint Joseph's cross country/track MVP honors after a stellar sophomore campaign in which he set the school indoor record in the 500 (1:02.23) and outdoor record in the 800 (1:48.8). The Weston, Connecticut native also was a key cog in the school record setting 4x800 outdoor relay team (7:25.9.) He earned all-conference honors in the 800 in both indoor and outdoor track, as well as the 4x800 relay. His freshman season was highlighted by a gold in the 800 at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Meet and earning the A-10 Indoor Most Outstanding Rookie Performer. Craycraft heads to Chapel Hill to join a track team that finished fifth in the Indoor Atlantic Coast Conference meet and 12th in the NCAA Indoor Championships. Outdoors, the men finished third in the ACC Championships.
