HAWKS COMPETE AT DELAWARE INVITATION

NEWARK, DE - The St. Joseph's men's track team competed at the Delaware Invitational over the weekend. The meet included squads from Lincoln, Hampton, Richmond, Coppin State, Penn, and the Host Blue Hens. Sophomore Tim Fisher led the Hawks with a first place finish in the 5000 meter run, his first victory of the season. Sophomore Dan Mays had a strong showing placing sixth in the 3000 meter run (8:46.70) and 17th in the mile (4:31.75) while freshman Nick Carras placed ninth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.20 seconds. Sophomore Jerry Puryear was the workhorse for SJU, placing eighth in the long jump (21'02 1/2"), 11th in the high jump (6'01 1/4") and 14th in the 800 meter run (2:01.05).
