HAWKS COMPETE AT CORNELL'S SIX-WAY INVITATION
ITHACA, NY- The St. Joseph's men's track
team traveled to New York for the second
consecutive week to take part in the Cornell
Six-Way Invitational.
Highlighted by first place finishes by Andy
Craycraft, James Scott, and Karl Savage, the
Hawks placed third among six schools,
including Buffalo, Penn, Colgate, Ithaca, and the
host Big Red.
Craycraft, a fresman, posted the Atlantic 10's fastest time in the 800
meter run this season (1:54.95), claiming the first place finish. The
Weston, CT native also teamed up with Marc Maccario, Mike McCabe,
and Geoff Valentine to win the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:20.06.
James Scott took home two first place finishes, winning both the 200
meter dash (22.19 seconds) and the 60 meter dash (6.95 seconds)
while senior Karl Savage claimed first prize in the mile run (4:15.5).
Savage also teamed up with Joe Lanci, Ben Koch, and Brian Rosetti to
win the 4x800 with a time of 7:52.59.
Other highlights include a second place finish by Valentine in the 500
meter run (1:05.86) and a second place finish by Rosetti in the 1000
meter run (2:30.74). Koch and Savage were right behind Rosetti, placing
third and fourth, respectively. Maccario placed fourth in the 200 meter
dash (22.84) while sophomores Matt Lewis and Tim Fisher both claimed
fourth place in the mile and 3000 meter runs, respectively.
SJU next compete's on Friday and Saturday, January 26-27, at the
Penn State Invitational.
