Men's Outdoor Track Places Eighth at Atlantic 10 Championships

AMHERST, Mass. - The Saint Joseph's men's track squad finished eighth in the 2008 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by UMass this weekend. Although the Hawks earned no All-Conference honors, SJU had four fourth-place showings, including a season-best run by the 4x800m Relay. URI won the event for the eighth time in nine years. The 4x800 squad ran its best time of the season by six seconds, finishing fourth in a time of 7:37.27. The relay was one of four events that saw the Crimson and Gray finish fourth. Steven Philbrook ran a time of 55.18 in the 400m Hurdles, Steve Young ran 3:54.64 in the 1,500m and Kyle Murray completed the 5,000m in 14:35.50. Other impressive performances were put together by Drew Brandt (49.10) in the 400m and Will Rowland (30:43.93) in the 10,000m.
