VELAZQUEZ SHARES A-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR
PHILADELPHIA (3/29/04) -- For the second time this season, junior Francisco Velazquez has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week. He shares the award with George Washington's Matt Hane. It is the second straight week a Hawk has earned the honor as sophomore Jimmy Holland was awarded the citation last week.
Velazquez went 2-0 at first singles, earning wins over Temple's Tyler Wynn (6-2, 6-3) and Fordham's Mike Rosado (6-2, 7-6 (5)). He also teamed with classmate Van Homer Pangilinan for an 8-2 first doubles win against Fordham.
Saint Joseph's has won five straight matches to improve to 8-6 on the season. The Hawks visit Pennsylvania on Tuesday.
