ATLANTIC 10 GIVES VELAZQUEZ NOD FOR PLAYER OF THE WEEK
PHILADELPHIA (2/16/04)-- The Atlantic 10 has selected SJU junior Francisco Velazquez as its Player of the Week for his performance in three matches last week. Velazquez went 3-0 against Saint Peter's, Navy and Mount St. Mary's to improve to 46-25 for his career, tying Frank Barnett for the career record on Hawk Hill.
The Aruba native started the week with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Saint Peter's Carine Realista on Monday. This past weekend, Velazquez defeated Navy's Stanley Kuhl (6-3, 6-3) and Mount St. Mary's Drew Arbeiter (6-3, 6-1) to improve to 7-4 on the year.
The Hawks are 2-1 this season.
