VELAZQUEZ ADVANCES AT OMNI HOTELS/ITA REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
PHILADELPHIA, PA (10/25/02)--Saint Joseph's sophomore Francisco Velazquez advanced Friday afternoon to the round of 64 in the OMNI Hotels/ITA Eastern Regional Championships at the University of Pennsylvania. He defeated Rutgers' Kevin Bielen in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
The unseeded Hawk moves to the round of 64 where he will face #21 George Tumer of Harvard.
SJU's doubles team of sophomore Van Homer Pangilinan and freshman A.J. Garabedian face the Penn State tandem of Frakes and Nudell in the opening round of the doubles section.
