BALTIMORE,, MD (04/04/02) - Freshman Francisco Velazquez won a thrilling three-set match over Josef Novotney, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, at number one singles, but that proved to be Saint Joseph's only singles victory in a 6-1 loss at UMBC on Thursday afternoon. In doubles action, the tandem of Velazquez and freshman Van Homer Pangilinan proved to be successful at the the #1 slot besting their competitiors 8-4. The loss drops the Hawks to 6-11 on the season. The team next plays on Finnesey courts on April 6 at 11:00 a.m.
