Defending Champ Richmond Downs SJU in A-10 Quarterfinals, 4-1
April 7, 2006 MONROEVILLE, PA - Defending Atlantic 10 Conference champion Richmond controlled play in both singles and doubles defeating Saint Joseph's in the quarterfinals of the 2006 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship at the Club 4 Life, 4-1. Senior Chris Spencer was the lone Hawk to collect a victory. Despite being seeded sixth, the Spiders put the third-seeded Hawks back on their heels quickly by claiming the doubles point. A strength for SJU all season, SJU was clipped in three tight matches. UR pushed further ahead with wins at fourth and sixth singles. Spencer kept SJU in the match with a 7-6, 6-4 victory at third singles, but Richmond closed things out when senior A.J. Garabedian fell in three sets at number two, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. Jimmy Holland's match at number one and Phil Bayliss' at fifth singles were not completed. #6 Richmond 4, #3 Saint Joseph's 1 Doubles Singles
