Men's Tennis Knocks Off Colgate, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team picked up a solid win on Sunday knocking off Colgate at the Riverside Racquet Club, 4-3. A key three set tie-break win by senior Van Homer Pangilinan, sealed the victory.

The Hawks got off to a positive start by claiming the doubles point, as senior Francisco Velazquez and junior A.J. Garabedian won a first doubles (8-4) and Pangilinan and junior Chris Spencer posted an 8-5 victory at second doubles. Junior Antonio Aniello and freshman Zach Dixon were edged 9-7 at third.

A pair of three set matches highlighted singles competition with Pangilinan winning the key match at fourth singles. After dropping the first set 2-6, Pangilinan battled back to win the second set 7-5 and then won the match with a 7-5 tie-break win in the final set. In the other three-setter, Aniello was edged at #2 singles, 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 6-3.

THe Crimson and Gray also received singles wins from Garabedian at #3 (6-3, 6-0) and spencer at #5 (7-6, 6-1).
