Men's Tennis Blanks St. Peter's, 7-0

JERSEY CITY, NJ - Blitzing the competition, the Saint Joseph's men's tennis team easily handled St. Peter's in straight sets. SJU dropped just six singles games in sweeping to a 7-0 victory over the Peacocks.

The Hawks began the afternoon by picking up the doubles point. Senior Francisco Velazquez and junior A.J. Garbedia teamed at number one for an 8-3 win. At second doubles, Chris Spencer and Van Homer Pangilinan also won by an identical 8-3 margin. Junior Antonio Aniello paired with freshman Zach Dixon and cruised to an 8-0 win at third doubles.

In singles, Garabedian and Spencer each won their matches at third and fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0. At first and second singles, Velazquez and Aniello won by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores. Pangilinan also was an easy winner at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-2 and Jeff Olson picked up the victory at number six, 6-0, 6-1.
