Second Straight Soccer Seven Co-Player of the Week Award Presented to Baker

Nov. 10, 2008

PHILADELPHIA--Sophomore Colin Baker (North Wales, Pa./La Salle College) was named Philadelphia Soccer Seven Co-Player of the Week on Monday for the second consecutive time. Baker, who shared the award with Temple's Bret Mollon, scored SJU's game-winning goal that gave the Hawks its first Soccer Seven Title in 15 years.

Baker scored the game-winning goal against La Salle in the seventh minute on Friday night in the 1-0 victory. The win gave the Hawks a share of the title with Penn, while denying La Salle an outright bid to win the crown.

The honor is the second of the season, and second in a row, was given after Baker provided the Hawks with a three-goal performance last week.

Baker led the team in scoring with six goals this year, which ranks him in the top 10 in both categories in the Soccer Seven.

The Hawks concluded their season on Sunday with a loss to A-10 Championship-bound Fordham. SJU matched its win total of five from 2007, finishing the year with a 5-8-2 overall record and 2-6-1 in Conference play.
