Baker Earns Philadelphia Soccer Seven Co-Player of the Week Award

Nov. 3, 2008

PHILADELPHIA--Sophomore Colin Baker (North Wales, Pa./La Salle College) was named Philadelphia Soccer Seven Co-Player of the Week on Monday. Baker, who shared the award with Temple's J.T. Noone, scored all three of SJU's goals over the weekend in a win over Xavier and a loss to nationally-ranked Dayton.

Baker scored the game-tying goal against Xavier on Friday thanks to a penalty kick early in the second half, while notching the game-winner with just 30 seconds left to give Saint Joseph's the win. It was Baker's first multi-goal game of the year.

Two days later Baker gave SJU thoughts of an upset with a goal 31 minutes into the game against #22 Dayton. Unfortunately, the Hawks could not hold the Flyers off.

Baker leads the team in scoring with five goals and ten points this year and ranks in the top 10 in both categories in the Philly Soccer Seven. It's the first conference or regional award presented to Baker in 2008 after claiming the 2007 A-10 and Philly Soccer Seven Rookie of the Year Awards.

The Hawks return to action on Friday to take on cross-town and Soccer Seven rival, La Salle at 7:30 p.m. on Finnesey Field. SJU's final home game will take place on Sunday against Fordham at 1:00 p.m.
