RICHMOND EDGES SAINT JOSEPH'S, 2-1

PHILADELPHIA, PA (10/26/03 - Joe Vidmar's goal in the 70th minute helped Richmond to a 2-1 victory over Saint Joseph's in men's soccer action at Finnesey Field. With the win, Richmond (8-4-4; 5-0-3 (Atlantic 10) extends its unbeaten string to eight games, with five wins and three ties. The Hawks drop to 7-8-1 (4-3-1 Atlantic 10) on the year. Vidmar broke a 1-1 deadlock at 70:34 when Tim Bezbatchenko sent a cross from the left side. Vidmar, in the right side of the box, then one-timed it past Hawk goalkeeper Kevin Dougher (Blue Bell, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep). The Hawks got on the board first at 9:34 when senior Andrew Kulinski (Turnersville, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) took a pass from classmate Adam Duffy (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) and scored from 10 yards away. Richmond tied it in the 31st minute on a goal by Stephen Douglas. Colin Vint sent a through ball to Ben Corfield, which was then centered to the waiting Douglas. Richmond outshot the Hawks, 16-7, with heavy pressure in the first half. Mike Nwaneri made two saves in the victory while Dougher had two stops for Saint Joseph's. The Hawks make their New England trip next weekend with a contest at Rhode Island on Friday and at Massachusetts on Sunday.
