DOUGHER AND HAWKS SHUT OUT GW IN 0-0 TIE
PHILADELPHIA, PA (10/24/03) - Saint Joseph's and George Washington battled to a scoreless draw in double overtime in an Atlantic 10 men's soccer match on a cold night at Finnesey Field. With the tie, the Hawks are 7-7-1 (4-2-1 in A-10) while the Colonials move to 5-9-1 (3-3-1 in A-10).
Both goalkeepers made big saves down the strech to preserve the tie. Saint Joseph's senior Kevin Dougher (Blue Bell, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) stopped seven shots, including two point blank shots by Joseph Siegel in the final six minutes of the second overtime.
GW's Derek Bliss made two big stops of his own, including a diving one off a shot by the Hawks' Joe Grayauskie (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) with 1:10 to play in the second overtime.
For Dougher, it was his fourth shutout of the year. Bliss made six saves on the evening to notch his second shutout.
GW outshot the Hawks, 14-10, and held a 9-6 edge in the first half.
Saint Joseph's hosts Richmond in another Atlantic 10 matchup on Sunday at 1 p.m.
