MATT JAMES NAMED SOCCER SEVEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
PHILADELPHIA, PA (10/21/03) – Saint Joseph's midfielder Matt James (Skippack, Pa./Perkiomen Valley H.S.) has been named the Philadelphia Soccer Seven Player of the Week for the week ending October 20.
The senior scored two goals in the Hawks' 3-2 double overtime win at St. Bonaventure. With SJU trailing, 1-0, James scored at 16:56 off assists from Andrew Takats (Newark, Del./Archmere Academy) and Adam Duffy (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown). After St. Bonaventure regained the lead before halftime, James scored the equalizer at 57:29, with the assist from Scott Cunningham (Nutley, N.J./St. Peter's Prep). The Hawks eventually won the game at 108:32 on a goal by Takats.
James is the team's second leading scorer with nine points (4 goals, 1 assist).
The Hawks return to action on Friday evening, October 24, when they host George Washington at Finnesey Field at 7:30 p.m.
