Kulinski Wraps Up Stellar Season with Soccer 7 Freshman of the Year Honor
Philadelphia – St. Joseph's University freshman Andrew Kulinski wrapped up a stellar first year by being named Philadelphia Soccer 7 Freshman of the Year. Kulinski, who was also was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, led the city league in scoring with a SJU freshman record 20 points on seven goals and six assists.
Kulinski was also named to the Soccer 7 all-league team, and was joined by fellow Hawks, Matt Cox and Ryan Dougherty. Also a 1999 All-Soccer 7 pick, Cox, the team's senior sweeper back, finished tied for fourth on the squad in scoring with two goals and two assists for six points. A junior midfielder, Dougherty tallied four goals and five assists for 13 points to finish second on the team and fourth in the league. All three players were earlier selected second team all-Atlantic 10 Conference.
The Hawks finished the year, 5-11-0, but look to be in great shape for the coming years. Only two starters, Cox and senior Erick Bodge, are lost to graduation, while a total of eight freshman all took turns in the starting lineup.
