Men's Soccer Closes Out Year with 0-0 Tie at Fordham

BRONX, NY - The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team closed out its 2006 season with a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Fordham. The Hawks finish the year with a 2-12-4 record and a 1-6-2 mark in conference play.

Sophomore Bryan Benedict faced a barrage of 21 Fordham shots, but made a career-high 11 saves on the day to post his third shutout of the season.

Fordham outshot the Hawks, 21-6, and held a 14-7 advantage in corner kicks. Doug Devereaux made four saves for the Rams (9-3-5; 3-3-3 A-10).

Freshman Jason Lewis had two shots for the Hawks.

The four ties this season is the most for the Saint Joseph's men's soccer team since 1995, when the Hawks went 5-10-4. SJU also had six contests go into overtime this season.

Saint Joseph's will graduate eight seniors - Jim Brown, John Creed, Joe Grayauskie, Sean McLaughlin, Dean Niedosik, Chris Powell, Andrew Takats and Matt Wurst.

Sophomore Michael McInaw finished as the Hawks' top scorer for the second year in a row, as he tallied four goals. Niedosik had three goals while Lewis had six points with two goals and two assists.
