Men's Soccer Falls, 3-0, at Richmond
Oct. 18, 2008 Richmond, Va. -- The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision at Richmond, 3-0, on Friday night. Richmond's first goal came on a header from senior Brennan Lincoln in the first half with assists from freshman Jed Antoun and junior Stephn Chareczko. Lincoln, normally a game-changer on the defensive side end of the field, almost put another header into the net on a corner kick late in the game. In the second half, sophomore Brendan Cristobal scored an unassisted goal and junior Russel Himelein finished a ball served by senior Scott Loesser on a corner kick to push the final margin of victory to three. Redshirt freshman Brock Tomlinson paced the Spiders by saving three shots and gave the team its first shut-out of the season. Freshman goalkeeper Grant Shonberg also saw some playing time in the first half when Tomlinson came out because of an injury. The Spiders kept the pressure on the Saint Joseph's keepers all game, out-shooting the Hawks 21-10, while 13 different Spiders recorded a shot. SJU will take on George Washington on Sunday afternoon at the Mt. Vernon Sports Complex.
