Baker's Hat Trick Leads Men's Soccer Over Coastal Carolina, 3-2

CONWAY, S.C. - Saint Joseph's freshman Colin Baker registered a hat trick to lead the Hawks to their first win of the year, defeating Coastal Carolina, 3-2, at the Coastal Carolina/adidas Invitational. It was SJU's first win of the season, to its record at 1-1. After scoring the first goals of his career, Baker was joined on the All-Tournament team by junior Michael McInaw, who assisted on two of the freshman's goals. The home team scored first, in the 19th minute, but Baker tallied SJU's first goal of the season at 34:08, off a pass from McInaw. Coastal Carolina took a 2-1 lead into halftime after scoring in the 38th minute. Baker then took over, scoring two goals in a three-minute span. His first came at 65:23, as Travis Gast and Greg Dusing assisted. Baker then headed in the gamewinner at 67:52 after a throw-in from Dusing, which was headed by McInaw to Baker. The Hawks were outshot, 14-9, but goalkeeper Bryan Benedict made three saves on the day.
