Marwin and McCullagh Join SJU Coaching Staff

PHILADELPHIA - Fresh off arguably the most successful season in program history, head coach Drew Hill has announced the addition of two new coaches to his staff for the 2005-06 season. Victor Marwin joins SJU as an assistant varsity coach while Sean McCullagh will assist with the SJU freshman crews.

Marwin, a 2004 graduate of The George Washington University, stroked the Men's Varsity 8+ for three years and stroked the Men's Varsity Heavyweight 4+ that won Silver at the IRA National Championships in 2004.

Marwin has been a member of the Penn AC Rowing Team and the Undine Barge Club, with whom he won USRowing Nationals in the Men's Lightweight Single in 2003.

He began his rowing career in Buffalo, NY in 1995 at Canisius High School, where he was member of the freshman, lightweight and midweight eights that collected a total of 5 medals at the US and Canadian National Championships over the span of 4 years. His younger brother Jordan, joins SJU this year as well, as a member of the freshman crew.

A 2002 graduate of Saint Joseph's, Sean McCullagh returns to Hawk Hill after a successful season as the freshman/novice coach at Roman Catholic High School.

McCullagh began rowing at LaSalle College High School. He rowed on the Varsity Lightweight 8 his sophomore year which took a gold medal at the Stotesbury Regatta, and rowed on the Varsity Heavyweight 8 his senior year. At SJU he was a member of the Freshman Lightweight 8 that captured gold medal at the Dad Vail Regatta. During his sophomore and senior year he rowed in the Varsity Lightweight 8. In McCullagh's senior year he was named co-captain of the Varsity team.
