HAWK MEN AND WOMEN HELP SJU PLACE SECOND AT GW INVITATIONAL

FINAL RESULTS WASHINGTON, DC (4/10/04) - The Saint Joseph's men's and women's rowing teams combined efforts on Saturday to place second in the 13 team field at the 17th annual George Washington Invitational Crew Classic on the Potomac River. Overall the Hawks advanced nine boats to the finals with three picking up medals. The SJU men were brilliant sending five boats to the finals. They picked up a gold medal from the Freshman 8 and a silvers from the Second Frosh 8, as well as the Varsity Lightweights. The Second Varsity 8 placed fourth, while the Varsity 8 was seventh after finishing third in the Petite. The women, meanwhile, were nearly as successful with four boats reaching the finals, including the Freshman 8 that finished fourth and the Second Varsity 8 that won the petite to finish fifth. The Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 also reached the petite finals, both placing sixth. Navy captured the overall points crown, while Georgetown was third.
