HAWK MEN PICK UP A PAIR OF GOLDS AT MURPHY CUP
PHILADELPHIA (3/27/04) - Dominating the Lightweight and Freshman 8 races from start to finish the Saint Joseph's men's rowing team earned four medals, including a pair of golds, at the Murphy Cup on the Schuylkill River.
The Lightweights won its final easily in a time of 6:14.70 besing runnerup Carnegie Mellon by better than 17 seconds. Likewise, the Frosh 8 (6:02.90) cruised to victory by more than 10 seconds over George Washington. SJU's Second Freshman 8 (6:20.38) placed thired in that final just behind GW.
The Varsity 8 (5:53.90) placed second in a competetive final, finishing just seconds behind Temple for the top spot.
