Jacobs and Malott Named to Area All-Academic Men's Rowing Team

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's seniors Kevin Jacobs and Marc Malott have been named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Rowing Team. Voting was done by the sports information offices of the 28 Philadelphia metropolitan area institutions. Jacobs, from Egg Harbor Township, N.J. (Egg Harbor Twp. H.S.), rowed for the Hawks' Varsity 8 boat which won its first Bergen Cup (city champions) since 1978. He also received the team's Leahy Award for dedication and loyalty. Jacobs graduated in May 2008 with a degree in elementary education while maintaining a 3.53 grade-point average. Malott, from Tiburon, Calif. (Redwood H.S.), was also a member of the Varsity 8 boat that captured the Bergen Cup (city champions). The recipient of the team's Scholar-Athlete Award. Malott graduated in May 2008 with a degree in marketing and owned a 3.58 grade-point average.
