Matthew Snyder, Ph.D. is in his eighth season with the SJU men's rowing Team. "Doc Snyder", as the team refers to him, assists the coaching staff with on-the-water training, the recruitment of student-athletes, and the academic and administrative support of team members. Snyder's unique blend of collegiate rowing and coaching experience, university teaching experience, and his expertise in counseling psychology, not only help bring student-athletes to SJU but also contributes directly to their successes on Hawk Hill. Snyder began his rowing career at Upper Merion High School, where he won the prestigious Stotesbury Cup Regatta in the Lightweight 4 in 1983. A 1989 graduate of Penn State, Snyder earned his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut in 1996. Prior to joining the SJU staff in 2000, Snyder spent 11 years coaching rowing on both the high school and collegiate levels at Upper Merion High School in suburban Philadelphia and the University of Connecticut. In addition to his coaching responsibilities Snyder is also the Assistant Director of the SJU Counseling Center where he specializes in Drug and Alcohol Counseling. |
