Men's Lax Hands Out Team Awards

Oct. 13, 2005

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team handed it out its annual award for the 2005 season in conjunction with the team's annual alumni game on Saturday, October 8. Five different Hawks were recognized, including senior Dan Morrissey who was selected as the Most Valuable Player.

Morrisey took home the top honor for his work in the nets. He concluded the year with a stingy 9.86 goals against average and a .509 save percentage. He closed out his career ranked second in program history for career goals against average and third all-time in saves.

Senior Marc Reynolds was tabbed as the team's Defensive Player of the Year for the fourth straight season. Reynolds captured All-MAAC honors for the third year in a row, after being named to the All-League Second Team. The rugged defenseman ranked second on the team in groundballs.

Junior Keegan Wilkinson was selected as Offensive Player of the Year. Wilkinson moved into the attack and showed a nose for finding the back of the net. He doubled his career total with 19 goals, while adding 14 assists, to lead the team with 33 points.

Sophomore midfielder Ben Kinch was tabbed as the team's Most Improved Player. He appeared in 12 games and was solid defensively, while emerging as the team's primary face-off man.

Freshman Steve Varga was named the squad's Rookie of the Year. The newcomer rounded into form as the season progressed and finished the season with nine goals.
