Men's Lacrosse to Participate in 4th Annual Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic

Sept. 30, 2010

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team will participate in the 4th Annual Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic on Saturday, October 9 at Ridley High School in Folsom, Pa. The tournament held in honor of Colleluori, a victim of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, features 10 NCAA division I and 10 division II and III collegiate men's lacrosse teams.

Colleluori, a 2004 graduate of Ridley, was a three-sport athlete who joined the Hofstra Pride lacrosse team that fall. A year later he was diagnosed with cancer and fought a 14-month battle before he succumbed to the disease on November 28th, 2006.

During his treatment he inspired all who knew him with his positive outlook through a difficult time. Colleluori came up with the idea to begin the HEADstrong Foundation to help those affected by blood cancer.

In three years, with help from the college lacrosse teams, the tournament has raised approximately $425,000 for Blood Cancer Research & Family Assistance. Each team participating in the tournament sells HEADstrong T-Shirts on their campus to raise funds and awareness of the disease.

Single-day general admission will be $10.00 for adults, and $5.00 for children 12 years and under and free for children 5 and under. A two-day pass is available for $15.00 for adults, and $7.00 for children 12 years and under. All proceeds go toward Blood Cancer Research & Family Assistance.

Saint Joseph's faces Mount St. Mary's at 11:00 a.m. and Presbyterian at 2:30 p.m.
