HAWKS WIN SECOND STRAIGHT, TOP MARIST, 16-10

Philadelphia, PA - St. Joseph's University got six goals and two assists from senior Randy McNeill as the Hawks defeated Marist, 16-10, in men's lacrosse action. After losing their first six games, the Hawks seem to have returned to their old form, proving to their opponents that taking away their MAAC title will not be an easy task. Freshman Mike Pagliaro tallied three goals and three assists while Bert Whitelock found the back of the net four times for the Hawks. Sean McDonagh scored led Marist with four goals. SJU (2-6, 2-2 MAAC) used a big third quarter to put the game out of reach for Marist. With the game tied at half, 5-5, the Hawks tallied six times in the third stanza, three by Whitelock, while capitalizing on two extra-man opportunities. Marist (2-4, 1-3 MAAC) lost its offense after the break as they managed only one goal in the third period. Pagliaro scored all three of his goals in the final 15 minutes to help seal the victory for the Hawks. Despite the loss, Marist goalkeeper Brian Schumeyer posted 19 saves. Nick Leopard turned back seven shots in the win.
