Men's Lacrosse Finishes Third in MAAC; Begins Play in MAAC Championship on Friday
May 1, 2007 PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's, Siena, Canisius and Providence have all qualified for the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship which beings Friday, May 4th at Waldron Family Stadium on the campus of Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md. Regular season champion Siena enters the MAAC Championship having posted a 7-1 record in league play. The Saints are the tournament's top seed and will face-off against fourth seed Providence at 1:00 pm on May 4th. Providence finished 5-3 in MAAC competition, but was seeded fourth as a result of its losses to Saint Joseph's and Canisius, each of which also enters the tournament at 5-3. The other semifinal match-up features Saint Joseph's versus Canisius. Saint Joseph's garnered the third seed in the Championship after compiling a 5-3 league mark, including going 4-0 to open conference play. Canisius, seeded second, is also 5-3in the MAAC and finished 6-7 overall. The Golden Griffins went 2-0 versus the tied teams while the Hawks were 1-1. SJU and Canisius will face-off at 4:00 pm on May 4th. The appearance will mark the fourth time in program history that the Saint Joseph's Hawks have been to the MAAC Championship. The title game will begin at 1:00 pm on Sunday, May 6th. Information about Gametracker and live streaming video will be posted on sjuhawks.com as it becomes available.
