HAWK GOLFERS CLOSE OUT FALL PLAY AT GEORGETOWN
LEESBURG, VA (10/27/03) - The Saint Joseph's University golf closed out the fall portion of its schedule on Sunday, placing 9th out of 12 teams at the rain-shortened Georgetown Hoya Invitational at the Lansdowne Resort. SJU shot a 306 in its lone round of competition.
Sophomore Billy Stewart was SJU's top individual, tying for 23rd place after carding a 75. Stewart was followed by classmate Sean Seese and freshman Chris Reedman and Jim Robertson, who tied for 37th with a score of 77. Rookie Ryan McCarty shot an 88 and placed 67th to round out the Hawk quintet.
Penn State and the University of Richmond tied for first place with a score of 288. Individual medalist honors went to Penn State's Ted Neville and Richmond's Tyler Randol, both shooting a three-under 69.
The tournament was scheduled to be played Sunday, October 26, and Monday, October 27, but Monday's half was canceled due to rain. Sunday's scores are final.
