Stewart's Ace Helps Hawks Place Sixth At Cornell

ITHACA, NY - Junior Billy Stewart used a hole-in-one on the par-3 second hole to tie for Sunday's low round with a 71 and finish tied for fourth at 2-over at the Cornell Invitational. The Hawks, which led after the opening round of the 54-hole event, finished sixth overall with a score of 902 (290, 304, 308). The tournament was played on the par-72 Robert Trent Jones golf course, which totaled 6890 yards for the tournament. Stewart shot 74, 73, 71 to finish with a two-over 218 for the event and placed fourth. His teammate junior Sean Seese also placed in the top 20, tying for 17th with a score of 224 (69, 77, 78). Three freshman rounded out the SJU lineup. Newcomer Colin Corrigan placed 28th with an 11-over 228 (71, 75, 81). Garrett Basalyga (76, 79, 78 - 233) finished 47th and Ryan Barnett (76, 80, 83 - 239) was 64th. Rider captured the team title by a comfortable seven-stroke margin over runner-up Penn. The Broncs were led by freshman Josh Krumholz, who earned medalist honors at 8-under. Rounding out the top five for the 54-hole tournament were Bucknell in third and Niagara in fifth. Other top-10 teams included St. Bonaventure (seventh), American (eighth), Robert Morris (ninth) and Siena, which tied with Lehigh for 10th.
