Saint Joseph's Golfers Ninth After Opening Two Rounds of Adams Cup

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Saint Joseph's golf team stands in ninth place after the opening two rounds of the Adams Cup at the Newport National Golf Cub Monday. The final round begins Tuesday at eight a.m. as the Hawks stand just 12 shots out of third place.

As a team, Saint Joseph's was consistent at the par-72, 7,244-yard course. The Hawks opened with a score of 300 and shot 301 in round two. Texas A&M (566) heads into Tuesday's play with a five-stroke lead second place Minnesota (571) and 23-strokes ahead of third place Southern Mississippi.

Individually, freshman Jimmy Bea posted a two-under-par 71-71/142 to stand tied for fifth. Saint Joseph's sophomore Josh Webb is tied for 20th after a two-round score 76-72/148, while senior Steve Hudacek shot a score of 74-82/156. Junior Zach Smith posted scores of 79-79/158, while classmate Bill Macknis rounded out the five-man squad with a score of 82-79/161.

The Aggies' Brunson Burgoon enters the final round with the individual lead after shooting 69-66/135.
