Golfers In Fourth After Opening Round Of Atlantic 10 Championship

NEWPORT, RI - The Saint Joseph's golf team stands in fifth place following Friday's opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championship at the par-72 Newport National Golf Club. The Hawks posted an opening-round 308 and trail first-place Xavier (286) by 22 strokes. Richmond is in second at 299, with George Washington at 301 and Rhode Island in fourth at 305. Individually, junior Billy Stewart is tied for second after posting a one-under-par 71. Stewart trails Xavier's Jason Kokrak by four strokes for the individual lead. Hawks' sophomore Chris Reedman is tied for 11th with an opening-round 75, while classmate Ryan McCarty is tied for 29th at 79. Freshman Colin Corrigan shot 83 and junior Sean Seese posted an 86 to round out the five-man squad. Saint Joseph's will attempt to move up in tomorrow's second round of the A-10 Championship. Tee times begin at 8 a.m. at Newport Golf Club.
