Golf in Sixth Place at Atlantic 10 Championships

WINTER HAVEN, FL - The Saint Joseph's University golf team stands in sixth place after Friday's opening round of the 2006 Atlantic 10 Championship at the Orange County National Golf Course.

The Hawks posted a score of 293 today and trail tournament-leading Xavier (277) by 16 strokes.

Individually, junior Phil Arouca paced the Hawks, shooting a 70 and is tied for 11th overall. Senior Billy Stewart posted a 72 and is tied for 20th, while sophomore Colin Corrigan posted a 74. Senior Sean Seese shot a 77 and junior Ryan McCarty rounded out the five-man team with an 80.

Four players are currently tied for the individual lead after posting an opening-round 68.

Round two begins Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
