Hawk Golfers Seventh After First Round of Atlantic 10 Tournament

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Saint Joseph's golf team is in seventh place after the opening round of the 31st Annual Atlantic 10 Championship at the Mission Inn Resort. The Hawks carded a score of 308 at the par-71 course.

Individually, senior Steve Hudacek is tied for sixth with a score of one-over-par 72, while junior Bill Macknis and freshman Jimmy Bea are tied for 23rd at 77. Junior Zach Smith and sophomore Josh Webb rounded out the five-man squad as both golfers carded rounds of 82.

Three-time A-10 champions Charlotte posted a two-under-par 282 and is 12 strokes ahead of second-place Xavier and Temple (294). Charlotte's Stefan Wiedergruen holds the individual lead after shooting three-under-par 68.

Round two of the three-round tournament begins at 8 a.m. Saturday.
