Golfers In 11th After Opening Day of FirstEnergy Intercollegiate Invitational

AKRON, OH - The Saint Joseph's golf team stands in 11th place in the field of 15 after the opening day of the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate Invitational at the par 72 Firestone Country Club. The Hawks started slow on Saturday finding themselves in 14th place after an opening round 320. Saint Joseph's regrouped for the second round, climbing three spots to 11th with a four-man score of 300. Toldeo currently holds a six-shot edge over the field at 576. Individually, junior Billy Stewart paced SJU with a score of 79-74/153. Stewart, who is tied for 35th, trails Justin Bertsch of Toldeo (138). Saint Joseph's freshman Colin Corrigan posted an 81-74/155, while junior Sean Seese shot a 80-76/156. Ryan Barnett finished at 80-78/158 and Ryan McCarty rounded out the five-man squad with a 85-76/161. Action resumes tomorrow morning for the final round of play.
