Hawk Golfers Place Seventh at Ft. Lauderdale Classic

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL - Saint Joseph's senior golfer Phil Arouca placed second at the Ft. Lauderdale Spring Classic as the Hawks placed seventh out of nine teams in their season-opening competition.

As a team, the Hawks posted a two-round score of 301-294/595, finishing just eight strokes out of fourth place. Loyola College took home the team title with a score of five-over-par 573.

Individually, Arouca posted his best performance of the season, stringing together two straight rounds of 70, for a final score of 140 (-2). He finished four shots behind medalist Mark Sommerfeld of Detroit Mercy (136).

Hawks' sophomore Steve Hudacek finished tied for 24th after carding a two-round score of 75-76/151, while senior Chris Reedman tied for 31st place with a score of 77-76/153. Senior Ryan McCarty finished a stroke behind Reedman at 82-72/154, while junior Colin Corrigan rounded out the five-man squad with a score of 79-78/157.

Saint Joseph's returns to action March 24-25 at the George Washington Invitational.
