Phil Martelli Golf Outing on May 22 to Benefit Developmental Enterprises Corporation
April 27, 2007 PHILADELPHIA - Phil Martelli has enjoyed more than his fair share of success on the basketball court. Now the legendary Hawk is hoping to score big on the golf course, on behalf of mentally retarded and other developmentally disabled individuals throughout the region. Martelli will host a charity golf tournament on Tuesday, May 22 at The ACE Club in Lafayette Hill to benefit Developmental Enterprises Corporation, the largest provider of vocational and habilitation services for developmentally disabled adults in Montgomery County. Proceeds from the Phil Martelli Golf Tournament will support DEC programs that help the developmentally disabled reach their fullest potential through personalized training, tailored therapies and other services that encourage a strong sense of value, hope and responsibility. The fundraiser will be played on the Gary Player Signature Design 18-hole course on the grounds of The ACE Center, one of the area's landmark courses. "Those who participate in the event will not only get to play a round on one of the area's finest golf courses, but also experience the joy of enabling hundreds of our developmentally disabled neighbors to be valued, productive, hopeful and safe," Martelli notes. "I cannot think of a better way to spend a day than on a great course with some great people for a truly great organization, one that promotes independence, choice and community integration among people with developmental disabilities."
