NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Saint Joseph's senior Dewey Oriente was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon. Oriente earned the designated hitter's spot on the squad in a vote of the conference's head coaches.

Oriente finished his senior campaign with a team-leading .339 batting average. He also led the Hawks with 36 runs scored, five triples, 35 runs batted in, and a .508 slugging percentage. He was the only player to appear in - and start - all 47 games for SJU.

The Hawks finished the year 18-29, with a 13-14 record in Atlantic 10 play, tying them for eighth place in the conference. It marks SJU's highest finish in a single-division Atlantic 10 since 1995, and the 13 league victories are a school record.
