PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's junior lefthander Randy Mower was named the Big 5 Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Voting for the Big 5 awards is conducted by the head coaches and sports information directors at the area's five Division I baseball-playing universities.

Mower got a no decision in Friday's 4-2 loss to George Washington. He went seven spectacular innings, giving up just three hits and no runs while striking out six and walking none. He retired 14 hitters in a row at one point and 15 of the final 16 hitters he faced.

For the season, the Hatfield, Pa. native was 5-5 with a 4.80 earned run average. He has notched 15 career victories, tying him for fifth in program history. He is also fifth on the all-time list in innings pitched, having thrown 230.0 for his career. His 43 career starts place him third all-time as well.

The Saint Joseph's baseball team finished the season tied for 11th in the Atlantic 10. Overall the Hawks amassed a 16-30-1 record and put together a 9-17 conference mark.
