LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - With six regular starters getting the day off, the Saint Joseph's baseball team fell at Rider on Tuesday afternoon, 10-0, in a non-conference game at Sonny Pittaro Field. It marks the first time the Hawks have been shut out this season.

Rider (20-18) took the early lead in the bottom of the third inning. With runners on second and third and one out, senior Matt Barnathan was called for a balk that scored the first run of the game. A sacrifice fly by Ian Lindsay doubled the lead before the next batter, A.J. Albee, hit a solo home run to left, putting the Broncs on top by three, 3-0.

John Ralston added an RBI double to extend the Rider lead to four with one out in the bottom of the sixth. Two batters later, Adam Wayman scored on a wild pitch before an RBI single from Steve Galella pushed the margin to six. Lindsay then added a two-run triple down the right field line to give the Broncs the 8-0 advantage.

A seventh-inning double by Wayman added another run to the tally, and an eighth-inning home run by Karl Johnston set the final margin at 10-0.

Saint Joseph's (15-19) had no answers for Rider start Joe Calogero, who improved to 3-0 on the year. He went eight innings and allowed just three hits and three walks while fanning six.

The Hawks will look to bounce back on Wednesday night as they take on the rival Villanova Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. at Campbell's Field.
