March 6, 2005

Box Score

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Keyed by strong pitching performances by senior Ryan Hoagey and sophomore Bob Unkel, the Saint Joseph's baseball team (2-10), earned a split of a doubleheader with Bethune-Cookman at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Hawks took a lead into the final inning of game one, but couldn't hang on and fell 4-3 and then picked up a last at bat victory in game two, 9-8.

In the opener, Unkel was superb and SJU got solid relief from sophomore Jeff Williams, but the Wildcats were able to scratch across a couple of runs against closer Adriano Petrutz to earn the win, 4-3.

In the second game, Hawk bats came alive and SJU led by three late in the game, but BCC scored three times to tie the game 8-8. Braun releived Hoagey and got SJU out of a jame and then earned the win when the Hawks scored in the top of the next frame. Petrutz came in and closed it out for the save.
