Baseball Opens New Home Field

The Saint Joseph's baseball team opened its new home field with a 5-1 win over Iona on March 9, 2012.

2011: Appeared in all but one game, making 48 starts...Led the team in home runs for the second consecutive season...Hit two home runs in the win at Fordham on May 6...Tied for the team lead in runs batted in with 32, a career-best...Second on the squad with 13 doubles and a .406 slugging percentage...Had a team-best 10-game hitting streak from March 2 to March 18...Led the Hawks with eight multiple-RBI games...Went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs in the win at George Washington on April 6...In that game, Taylor came to the plate with the bases loaded after a brief hail delay and crushed the second pitch over the wall for his first career grand slam...Named the Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week on May 16 for his performance during the previous week, when SJU was 4-0.

2010: Enjoyed a breakout year, leading the team in home runs and on-base percentage and finishing second in walks and slugging percentage while placing third in RBI... Drove in 10 runs and hit three home runs in the series at New Mexico State...Went 3-for-3 and scored four runs in SJU's 17-8 rout of eventual league champion Saint Louis on April 1.

2009: Made 22 plate appearances over 14 games...Hit a two-run double in his first at bat March 9 against Pittsburgh...Also drove in a run against SIU-Edwardsville on March 11.

High School: First Team All-Baltimore City as a junior, when he hit .416 with four home runs and 24 RBI...Named First Team All-MIAA as a senior, batting .338 with six homers and 21 runs batted in...Also named to the All-Tournament Team at AAU Nationals.

Personal: Born on October 29, 1990 to Gerry and Marie Taylor...Is an undecided business major.
