PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's baseball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday as the Hawks fell to Penn, 7-4, at Meiklejohn Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Penn (23-9) went ahead in the second after three consecutive two-out singles.

Tim Cavanaugh tied it up for Saint Joseph's (20-14) in the top of the fourth, but the Quakers answered with a two-run home run by Andrew Hernandez to make it a 3-1 lead. The hosts would then extend the lead with a four-run fifth.

• In the ninth, the Hawks mounted a rally as
Travis Rinker went deep for a three-run shot for his first hit as a Hawk with two down. SJU would send the tying run to the on-deck circle, but the Quakers recorded the final out to secure the win.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Brendan Bean allowed a run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning of relief to get the win.
Cole Stetzar made his season debut for the Hawks and took the loss after allowing a pair of runs.

Conlan Wall went 3-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Hawks, while Cavanaugh was 2-for-2 with a double in addition to the longball.

• The teams combined to use 16 pitchers on the day.
