Sept. 5, 2006 PHILADELPHIA - Best-selling author and former Saint Joseph's certified athletic trainer Kevin Carroll MS'97 will return to Hawks Hill Wednesday, September 13 to give a speech as part of the Athletics Leadership and Diversity Lecture Series. The speech will be held at 7 p.m. at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse and is open to the public. The founder of The Katalyst Consultancy, Carroll has been the author of the highly successful book, Rules of the Red Rubber Ball: Find and Sustain Your Life's Work, published by ESPN Books. As the founder of The Katalyst Consultancy, Carroll has worked with a wide range of people from CEO's of Fortune 500 to first grade students, teaching audiences around the world how to use the spirit and lessons of play to enliven and enrich their work lives, enhance innovation, and improve team dynamics and interpersonal communication. Carroll helps turn creative ideas into reality and has worked extensively for organizations such as Nike, Starbucks (his words of wisdom appear on 17 million Starbucks coffee cups), The Discover Channel, ESPN, HSBC Bank, Mattel, Capital One, and The National Hockey League by promoting the power of play and creativity in achieving maximum human potential. Prior to forming The Katalyst Consultancy, Carroll spent seven year with Nike. Working directly for Nike founder Phil KNight, Carroll held the position of Katalyst and Master Storyteller where he helped the company deepen its understanding of athletic product performance, build strong teams and create a positive corporate culture. Before that Carroll spent 10 years as an Air Force linguist, becoming fluent in Croatian, Czech, and Serbian, and attained conversational proficiency in German and Russian. He's also worked as a high school health educator, before accepting a job as head athletic trainer at Saint Joseph's before accepting the same role with the Philadelphia 76ers. |
