June 21, 2007

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's director of athletics Don DiJulia will be inducted into the Delaware County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, June 24, along with 11 others.

The induction banquet will be held at the Ramada Inn in Essington, PA, with a reception at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. For tickets call 610-457-0028.

One of the most active and respected leaders in college athletics, DiJulia has been affiliated with Saint Joseph's for five decades. He is in the midst his second stint as the Hawks' top athletic administrator and just completed his 19th year in his current position of associate vice president/athletic director.

DiJulia has overseen tremendous growth in the University's athletics programs and will be involved in one of the biggest projects in SJU history, a three-phase plan to enhance varsity and recreational athletics. Among the highlights of the project is the expansion of Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse and the construction of a dedicated center for men's and women's basketball.

A 1967 graduate of Saint Joseph's who played baseball and basketball, DiJulia has spent 23 of the last 30 years on Hawk Hill. During his career, he also served as the commissioner of both the East Coast Conference and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Also being inducted into the Hall of Fame on Sunday are Kevin Clancy, Tom Galia, Robert Kuburski, Granville Lash, Earle W. Mosley III, Paul Motta, Joseph Piorkowski, William D. Westbrook and Ron Withelder, while Larry Simmons and Ted Meredith will be inducted posthumously.
