APALACHIN, N.Y. - Saint Joseph's junior Ross Pilliod finished in second place and the Hawks' golf team finished seventh at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational following Monday's final round.

Playing at the par-72 Links at Hiawatha Landing Championship Tees (7,104 yards), Pilliod carded a two-round score of four-under-par 70-70/140 to finish tied for first with Monmouth's Nikolas Maff. Unfortunately, no playoff hole was held and Maff won medalist honors on a tie breaker, the lowest final round.

As a team, the Hawks shot 304 on Monday to finish with a score of 295-304/599 to place seventh in the 17-team field.

Individually, sophomore Michael O'Brien tied for 18th at 73-76/149, while rookie Wills Montgomery finished a stroke behind him at 73-77/150 to tie for 26th. Tommy Lewis and Noah Henderson rounded out the five-man squad as they both tied for 69th with scores of 80-81/161 and 79-82/161, respectively.

St. Bonaventure won the team title besting Lehigh in a tie breaker as both teams finished at 586.

Saint Joseph's is back in action at the Georgetown Intercollegiate on October 16.
