PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph’s senior Tim Stierle was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Tennis Team on Monday morning.  Stierle was one of six student-athletes named to the squad in voting conducted among the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Stierle was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive season after leading the Hawks with 15 singles wins playing out of the top flight.  He is the two-time reigning first flight singles champion at the Saint Joseph’s Invitational, while his .660 career winning percentage ranks him eighth in program history.

A native of Böblingen, Germany, Stierle was also tabbed for the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team this season.

Mark Fallati of Swarthmore was named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men’s Tennis Performer of the Year.  He and Stierle were joined on the Academic All-Area Team by Haverford’s David Kong and Josh Moskovitz, Borna Novak of the University of the Sciences, and Josh Pompan of Penn.
