BEALSVILLE, MD - After starting the day in 12th place, the Saint Joseph's golf team jumped four spaces to tie for eighth in the field of 12 at the Georgetown Invitational at the par-71 Members Club at Four Streams Tuesday afternoon.
As a team, the Hawks shot 300-296 over the final two rounds, carding a score of 314-300-296/910. DePaul University won the team title after shooting 850 at the 54-hole tournament, while SJU finished tied for eight alongside James Madison.
Individually, sophomore Zach Smith shot a two-under-par 69 in the final round to finish the tournament with a score of 77-7779/223 to tie for 24th place. Hawks' freshman Josh Webb finished tied for 26th after carding a score of 78-75-71/224, while senior Colin Corrigan finished two strokes behind with a score of 76-74-76/226 to tie for 32nd. Senior Bob Cunningham finished tied for 63rd (92-74-81/247), while freshman Jim Ridgeway rounded out Saint Joseph's five-man squad with a score of 83-86-80/249 to finish 65th.
DePaul Greg Doherty and Richmond's Hunter Townsend tied for the individual title after both finished tied at 209.
Saint Joseph's caps its fall season October 29-30 at the Old Dominion Invitational.
